基盤的竜脚形類、Pantydraco caducus の解剖学的特長などについて報告されています。
英国にある三畳紀後期の地層で発見され、2003年に、Adam Yates により、テコドントサウルス類の新種、 Thecodontosaurus caducus として記載されました。その後、 2007年になって Pantydraco 属とされています。
少なくとも3個体がみつかっており、頭部はほぼ完全です。
上のイラストは、グレゴリー・ポールによる復元骨格図。推定体長1.3メートルほどの個体が復元されています。
白い部分が、化石が発見されている部分で、スケールは10センチ。体重は2.5kgほどとありますから、意外と軽いのですね。
Adam Yates の論文では、4足歩行で復元されていたのですが、今回は2足歩行で復元されています。
その理由として、後ろ足に比較して短い前肢、バランスをとるための伸びた尾から、十分に2足歩行できたと考えられています。
