Frenchman Formation (late Maastrichtian)、サスカチュワン州の最新ニュース

　カナダにある白亜紀後期の地層で、基盤的鳥脚類、テスケロサウルス（Thescelosaurus ）属の新種化石が発見され、記載されています。

　約6600万年前の、 T.rex やトリケラトプスと同時代の小型植物食恐竜で、かつて、"心臓"が残るとされたのもこの恐竜です。

　ROM's Blog によると、Brown, C. M. Boyd の修士課程の研究で、新種の堅頭竜の報告も予定されているそうです。

　化石自体は、1968年に、アルバータ州の東にあるサスカチュワン（Saskatchewan）州で発見されたもの。

　シカほどの大きさで、Thescelosaurus assiniboiensis と命名されています。他のThescelosaurus よりも、姉妹群であるParksosaurus に近い特徴があるとされています。
